For the Car and Motorcycle theory test

To get a FULL driving licence you have to first pass both the Theory and the Practical driving tests.
To to able to take the Practical Test, you must first have to take and pass the Theory Test.
The theory test is a computer-based test and consists of two parts: multiple choice and hazard perception

About the Theory and Hazard Perception Test

The current fee to take the test is £23.00 which covers the cost of the Hazard test.
You are asked 50 multiple choice questions. The pass mark is 43 or more and the time allowed to complete the test is 57 minutes.

The hazard perception test is the second part of the driving theory test and is taken a few minutes after completing the multiple choice questions.
For the 2passhazard perception test the questions are made up of 14 clips, the pass mark is 44 out of a possible 75.

For the Large Vehicle Theory Tests (LGV and PCV)

The current fee to take the test is £26.00 and £11.00 for the Hazard part of the test.
Bus, Coach and Lorry drivers will be tested on 100 questions and need to correctly answer 85 of the 100 to pass the multiple choice part of the test.
The number of hazard perception clips questions is 19 and the pass mark is 67 out of 100.

Take a 2passFREE Mock Theory Test for LGV (HGV)/PCV Drivers

The bus, coach and lorry drivers Theory Test is to split into two parts. This will allow candidates to take the multiple choice element separately from the hazard perception element; and in either order. This change aims to avoid potential recruits being put off entering the industry due to the length of the test as a single event.

For the ADI (Driving Instructor test)

The current fee to take the test is £81.00 which covers the cost of the Hazard test.
The test is made up of 100 questions, split into four categories:
~ road procedure
~ traffic signs and signals, car control, pedestrians and mechanical knowledge
~ driving test, disabilities, and the law
~ publications and instructional techniques
The overall pass mark for the multiple choice part of the test is 85 per cent - ie 85 out of 100 questions answered correctly. However, you must reach a minimum mark of 80 per cent - 20 correct questions out of 25 - in each of the four categories.
For the hazard perception test of 14 clips, the pass mark is 57 out of a possible 75.
